We are pleased to continue our intern spotlight series! Over a couple weeks, we are introducing each our summer interns to learn more about their background and interests.
This week we are excited to introduce Luke Alexander, Maria Bell and Michael Barry.
Luke Alexander
Luke has joined our Internal Audit department. He is from Rochester, Minnesota and is currently attending Villanova University in Philadelphia. This summer, Luke hopes to advance his knowledge of Excel and gain valuable skills for the finance and accounting industry. Said Luke, “I have a lot to learn, and I hope the mentorship culture that Intact provides will help me learn more about the day-to-day financial operations of a business, especially in the insurance space”. He enjoyed speaking with Intact team members at his interview, and during his time at the company, he hopes to build meaningful relationships with his colleagues and managers that last into the future. If Luke had a chance to go anywhere in the world, he would choose to go to Japan to experience its people, culture, food and nature. His all-time favorite T.V. show is The Office. The last book he read was Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Luke also loves to play golf and plays competitively for his university.
Maria Bell
Maria is interning at our Actuarial department. She was excited to join Intact Specialty to gain exposure to the work of an actuary in property and casualty insurance. In addition, she looks forward to interacting with her team and learning from them. Maria is from Nisswa, Minnesota and is studying at St. Thomas University. She was attracted to the company because of its culture. “The people I have interacted with showed genuine interest to connect, and they value excellence in their work”, she said. Given a chance to go anywhere in the world, she would choose to go to Israel.
Michael Barry
Michael is interning at our Finance department and is studying at the University of St. Thomas. With this internship he hopes to gain technical and applicable transferable skills that’ll help him build his career. Said Michael, “as per the conversation I had with Intact recruiters, it sounded like Intact has big growth plans and that is something I find very attractive in a company.” If Michael had a chance to go anywhere in the world, he would choose to go to Australia. He is currently binge watching T.V. show Billions. If he was in a deserted island with food and water and two items of his choice, he would choose a library full of books and sunglasses.
