We are incredibly excited to announce the continuation of our annual internship program! This summer, we’re welcoming 23 college students who will be working in our Actuarial, Audit, Finance, IT and Specialty Business departments alongside our teams of experts.
To get to know them better, we’re kicking off this year’s intern spotlight series! Over the next couple weeks, we will be introducing each our interns to learn more about their background and interests.
This week we are pleased to introduce Alexis Hanchett, Anna Puhek and Connor Glinski.
Alexis Hanchett
Alexis is an underwriting intern with Intact Specialty Property. She is from Delton, Michigan, and is studying at Olivet College. With this internship, she aims to gain more insight and knowledge of the surplus lines side of insurance. She is eager to learn more about Intact Specialty, and how the insurance industry relates to real life situations. Alexis loves watching television shows and recently finished watching Outlander on Netflix.
Anna Puhek
Anna is an intern in our Actuarial department. With this internship, she wants to gain exposure to real-world actuarial science applications outside of a classroom setting. Anna is from Lakeville, Minnesota and is studying at University of St. Thomas. Before joining Intact Specialty, she researched on the product lines that are offered under specialty insurance and found it fascinating. Said Anna “At my internship interview, I met friendly people and saw a great culture, which attracted me to join the company.” She looks forward to working with her team members and understanding how she can put her skills to use. Anna loves to travel and wishes to visit Italy and Alaska. She is also aiming to study abroad in the upcoming semester. Anna recently finished reading The Great Alone which is set in Alaska and written by one of her favorite authors Kristin Hannah. The last T.V. show she watched was The People vs O.J. Simpson.
Connor Glinski
Conner is from Lakeville, Minnesota and has joined our Actuarial department. Having never worked in the property and casualty sector of insurance, he is excited to join the company to learn more about the industry and flesh out his technical and analytical skills. He is a student at the University of St. Thomas and first heard about the internship from his peers. He visited Intact Specialty’s virtual booth at a career fair and received a warm welcome. Said Connor “The culture described and demonstrated by Intact representatives really attracted me to the company. Everyone was friendly and genuinely interested in who I was and answering the questions I was asking.” If Connor could go anywhere in the world, he would visit Asia, starting with Japan. If he was in a deserted island with food and water and two items of his choice, he would choose a kindle with as many books downloaded as possible (assuming he could charge it with solar power). He would also bring a journal to document his experience.
Best of luck Alexis, Anna and Connor! We look forward to working with you and being a part of your career development.
