We are pleased to continue our intern spotlight series! Over a couple weeks, we will be introducing each our summer interns to learn more about their background and interests.
This week we are excited to introduce Changtao Shuai, Hailey Gillen and Hannah Kojetin.
Changtao has joined our Information Technology department and is studying at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He is originally from Hangzhou, a city located in southeast China. He describes the tropical city as “a place where tradition meets modernity at every corner”. Providing business solutions and insights using data are one of his strengths and with this internship, he hopes to expand his knowledge of coding, visualization, and communication. He also wants to explore a career in data analytics and the internship will help steer him in that direction. If Changtao could go anywhere in the world, he would choose to go to Iceland. “The Northern Lights are one of the most beautiful and magical views that nature has given us”, he says.
Hailey is interning at our Actuarial department. This summer, she hopes to gain a better understanding of the insurance industry and the different roles an actuary can play within the company. With this internship, she also wants to challenge herself, and get experience of working in a corporate environment. Hailey is from Viroqua, Wisconsin and is attending the University of St. Thomas. She aims to become a property and casualty actuary and sees Intact Specialty as a platform to develop and hone real world skills outside the classroom. The last book she read was Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.
Hannah is from Eagan, Minnesota, and has joined our Actuarial department. She first heard about Intact Specialty at a career fair organized by her school – the University of St. Thomas. She was drawn by the unique coverages that the company offers and thought of it as an opportunity to develop her analytical skills and apply her school education to real-life work. With this internship, she hopes to learn about specialty insurance and understand the role of a property and casualty actuary. If Hannah had a chance to go anywhere in the world, he would love to take a cruise to different Caribbean Islands. If she was in a deserted island with food and water and two items of her choice, she would choose a friend or family member and a radio.
Best of luck Changtao, Hailey and Hannah! We look forward to working with you and being a part of your career development.
