We are pleased to continue our intern spotlight series! Over a couple weeks, we will be introducing each our summer interns to learn more about their background and interests.
This week we are excited to introduce Brooke Johnson, Diana Krmzian, Gabriel Avery and Jerry Thompson.
Brooke is an intern in our Actuarial department. She is from Eagan, Minnesota and is studying at St. Olaf University. With this internship, she aims to gain experience of applying her skills to real life situations and projects. Brooke interned with Intact Specialty last summer as well and enjoyed working with her team, so, she was excited to be given the opportunity again this summer! If she could go anywhere in the world, she would choose to go to Bora Bora. Currently Brooke is watching T.V. series Criminal Minds, for the second time!
Diana is interning at our Information Technology department. Being a math major, she wants to develop her skills using different data sets of varying complexity. Diana is from Belmont, Massachusetts and is studying at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She enjoys problem solving and is excited to use different tools and programs during the internship. She was attracted to Intact Specialty because she liked the people she met at her interviews and was pleased to get an opportunity to learn about insurance data. If Diana had a chance to go anywhere in the world, she would choose to go to Italy to experience its vibrant history, culture, and nature.
Gabriel is from Homer, Michigan, and has joined as an underwriting intern at Intact Management Liability. When he first heard about Intact Specialty, he was drawn to its focus on specialized businesses. Getting an opportunity to work at a dynamic specialty insurance firm felt like a challenge that he wanted to take on. With this internship, he is excited to gain experience of working in the industry and connect with professionals. He also hopes to hone his communication and presentation skills, as well as bring value to the team. Gabriel is currently a senior at Illinois State University. Said Gabriel, “when I spoke to the people at my interview, it became clear that I will be working with some of the most experienced and intelligent underwriters in the industry who are also some of the kindest people I have ever spoken with.”
Having grown up in rural Midwest, Gabriel was exposed to different kinds of farming, which is why he decided to minor in agriculture. He feels that people who work in the agricultural industry are passionate, and he was greatly influenced by their work. If Gabriel could go anywhere in the world, he would visit Buenos Aires in Argentina because of its incredible food, beautiful weather, landscapes, and culture. He is currently watching T.V. series Criminal Minds – for the fifth time!
Jerry is interning at Intact Accident & Health. He is from Yonkers, New York and is studying at SUNY Brockport. He wishes to gain more professional experience and felt like an internship would be a great opportunity to get that. He visited Intact Specialty’s Morristown, New Jersey office and was attracted by its people and work environment.
When Jerry was 10 years old, he got a chance to play football at halftime during a New York Giants game! This was a memorable and exciting experience of his life. If he had a chance to go anywhere in the world, he would love to go see the pyramids in Egypt. He recently finished reading the book Ask Questions, Get Sales by Stephen Schiffman. If he was in a deserted island with food and water and two items of his choice, he would choose a cellphone so he can talk to someone and a challenging game.
Best of luck Brooke, Diana, Gabriel and Jerry! We look forward to working with you and being a part of your career development.
