Intern Spotlight Series: Introducing interns Chad Gothelf, Samantha Scarlett, Alyssa Ahrens, and Michael Hamel
With the Internship program in full swing, we’re excited to continue introducing our summer interns. Each week, we share a glimpse into their backgrounds, ambitions, and what drew them to Intact. This week we’re proud to introduce Chad Gothelf, Samantha Scarlett, Alyssa Ahrens, and Michael Hamel.
Chad Gothelf
Chad joins us from the University of Connecticut and is interning with our IT team this summer. He is eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting and hopes this internship will strengthen both his technical skills and his ability to collaborate with others. By the end of the program, he’s looking forward to walking away with a deeper understanding of the insurance industry.
Originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, Chad was drawn to Intact for its strong potential for growth. “I strongly believe Intact is a reliable and growing company in the insurance industry. I feel as though Intact will grow substantially in the future, and I want to be a part of the company while it happens,” he shared.
Outside of work, Chad enjoys diving into his favorite television shows and has recently been watching Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If given the chance to travel anywhere in the world, he’d head to Sydney, Australia.
Samantha Scarlett
Samantha joins us this summer as a CCAP Operations Apprentice, working with the Operations team in Farmington, Connecticut. Samantha hopes to gain deeper insight into the specialty insurance industry and build a strong foundation for a future career with Intact.
Samantha has lived in East Hartford, Connecticut her entire life and attends Capital Community College. What first drew her to Intact was its focus on specialty insurance, a concept she had never encountered before. “I am excited to discover where I belong and how I can grow with the company,” she shared.
Outside of work, Samantha is currently watching True Blood and finds it fun to recognize well-known actors. She hopes to visit Ireland with her family to honor her grandmother, who always dreamed of going there.
Alyssa Ahrens
Alyssa is interning with our Ocean Marine team this summer. She is currently attending the University of Missouri. Through this internship, she hopes to deepen her understanding of the insurance industry by gaining hands-on experience and expanding her professional network.
Originally from Chesterfield, Missouri, Alyssa was first introduced to Intact through her father. “My father is in the insurance field and spoke highly of intact, so I decided to check it out,” she said. His recommendation sparked her interest and led her to join our team at Intact.
If given the chance to travel anywhere in the world, Alyssa would choose Brazil for its vibrant culture and energy. It’s a destination she’s eager to explore when the opportunity comes.
Michael Hamel
Michael is a Legal Clerk Intern, working alongside the General Counsel team in the Plymouth, Minnesota office. A student at the University of Iowa College of Law, he’s particularly interested in gaining insight into how insurance law functions on a national scale.
Originally from Maple Grove, Minnesota, Michael was “drawn to Intact due to their large reach and good company values,” he shared. Combined with his interest in how insurance law functions on a national scale, Intact felt like the ideal place to apply his legal studies and explore a future in the industry.
Michael’s ideal getaway would be a Caribbean beach, where he could scuba dive and spend the day reading. He’s currently watching Succession and recently started reading Onward by Howard Shultz, which traces Starbucks’ rise to global success.
