We are incredibly excited to continue our intern spotlight series for our annual internship program! This summer, we’re welcoming over 40 talented college students who will be working in several different departments alongside our teams of experts.

Over the next couple weeks, we will be introducing each of our interns to learn more about their backgrounds and interests.

To kick it off, we are pleased to introduce Peter Shield, Tori Parpart, Tristan palazzo and Ashwini Mandkar.

Peter Shield

Peter attends Bentley University and is from Keene, New Hampshire. As an actuary intern, he is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience, building meaningful connections with colleagues, and contributing purposefully to his team’s goals. “I’m eager to learn from Intact’s experts and apply my skills in a real-world setting while growing both professionally and personally” he says.

Peter was drawn to Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions because of its well-established expertise in the specialty insurance market and its commitment to innovation. “The professionalism and friendliness of the team stood out to me, making it clear that Intact truly values its employees,” he shares.

If Peter could travel anywhere in the world, he would visit New Zealand. It tops his bucket list not just for its breathtaking mountain ranges and unique wildlife, but also for the thrill of traveling such a great distance. “The journey itself adds to the adventure, making the experience all the more alluring,” he says.

Tori Parpart

Tori Parpart is from Waconia, Minnesota, and is currently studying actuarial science at the University of St. Thomas. This summer, she is eager to gain valuable skills and learn from the actuarial team and everyone at Intact. “I am excited to build my network, improve my technical and soft skills, gain industry knowledge, and continue to develop as an aspiring insurance professional,” she says.

Tori was drawn to the welcoming nature of the actuarial team at Intact and the unique aspects of specialty insurance. “I had a great experience last summer working with the team, and I am excited to continue learning. I find the niche aspects of the industry to be fascinating,” she shares.

If Tori could travel anywhere in the world Santorini, Greece would be her top choice.  The last book she read was The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom.

Tristan Palazzo

Tristan Palazzo is from Acton, Massachusetts, and is currently studying actuarial science at Bentley University.  He is eager to gain a stronger understanding of the P&C insurance world through hands-on experience. “I have taken so many courses in math, stats, and data science. I am excited to apply that knowledge in a real-world setting,” he says. Tristan is also looking forward to developing his soft skills, particularly in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, while contributing to a team.

Tristan was attracted to Intact for its close-knit environment “I felt I would be surrounded by people who take pride in their work and support each other. I could truly grow personally and professionally,” he shares.

If Tristan could travel anywhere, he would choose Japan. “I have never visited Asia and would love to experience the food and culture there!” he says. The last TV show he watched was The Bear, an award-winning drama/comedy on Hulu.

Ashwini Manokar

Ashwini Manokar is from Minneapolis, MN, and attends University of Minnesota. She is eager to apply her education to real-world problems, combining her interests in finance and computer science. “I’m excited to contribute to a team where I can grow through hands-on experience, especially in a dynamic environment where collaboration and problem-solving are at the core,” she says.

Ashwini was attracted to Intact because of the collaborative, creative, and innovative mindset toward problem-solving. “The company’s approach to tackling challenges really stood out to me,” she shares.

If Ashwini could travel anywhere in the world, Tokyo, Japan would be her top choice. She wishes to explore the culture and city life that Japan has to offer.
