As we continue highlighting our summer interns, this week we are excited to introduce you to Manish Kandukuri, Claire Alwin, Christopher Marzouca and Yu Zhang. We are thrilled to have them on board with us and share their goals, interests, and aspirations for this internship.
Manish Kandukuri
Manish just graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Computer Science Engineering and has joined our IT department. Born in Hyderabad, India, Manish is now living in Boston. “Boston has become a second home to me, I’ve made lots of friends who are always there for me” he says. Throughout this internship, Manish is excited to learn from experienced colleagues and is eager to apply his skills in a practical setting while “collaborating with peers and gaining from constructive feedback to enhance professionally”.
Manish has an interest for unconventional and unique challenges. He was attracted to Intact “because of its focus on providing specialty insurance solutions, which aligns well with my interests” he says. Additionally, he was drawn to this internship because it offers a unique opportunity of allowing interns to explore various projects based on their strengths and interests.
If Manish could travel anywhere in the world, he would visit the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Iceland, which is home to the Icelandic Orca Pods. “Being a wildlife enthusiast, spending time with these magnificent creatures would be a dream come true” he says. The last book Manish enjoyed was The Zahir by Paulo Coelho.
Claire Alwin
Claire attended American University in Washington D.C. where she received her undergraduate degree. She has since moved back to her home state of Minnesota to pursue a law degree at The University of Minesota’s Law School.
As she works in our claims department this summer, Claire hopes to “gain a better understanding about the experience working with litigation matters in the insurance industry” she says. With this internship experience, she hopes to have a better idea of her interest in litigation as a career path.
Claire was attracted to Intact “because of the opportunity to gain practical litigation experience outside of a traditional law firm or government environment” she says. Claire reflected on her interview process and told us: “Everyone seemed genuinely excited about their jobs and enjoyed working at Intact”. The last television show Claire watched was the Great British Bake Off on Netflix.
Christopher Marzouca
Christopher is studying at Fordham University’s School of law and will be a junior in the fall. He spent most of his life growing up in West Palm Beach, Florida however, he was born in Brooklyn, New York. Christopher will be working with our claims counsel.
Eager to learn how legal work is from the defense side, Christopher is excited to “continue developing skills to become a well rounder lawyer” he says. As he works with our claims counsel this summer, he “can’t wait to dive into and learn about what seems to be a very niche area of the law” he adds. Making an impact is particularly important to Christopher. In his past work experiences, he felt he “had an impact on a wide array of people” and feels he would have the same impact at Intact.
If Christopher could travel anywhere in the world, it would be Italy. He has never been before and is “dying to learn more about the culture and eat a ton of food along the way” he says. Love is Blind is the last television show he watched and tells us he highly recommends watching it.
Yu Zhang
Yu is from Beijing, China and attends Fordham University School of Law. Yu will be entering her junior year in the fall. Through this internship, she hopes to “learn more about the real-world litigation process and the insurance industry”. Yu has joined our claims counsel, and while working alongside some of our attorneys, she hopes to enhance both her professional and interpersonal skills.
Yu is excited about “the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of cases and assignments and to get hands on experience in the litigation field” she says. Yu was attracted to Intact because of “how great the working environment is” and says “everyone was super nice and supportive” throughout the hiring process.
The last television show she watched was Saturday Night Live. Yu tells us it is a great show to watch when you are ready to “unwind from a long day of working or studying.” If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would like to visit Jeju Island in South Korea with her friend to enjoy Korean food by the water.
Best of luck Manish, Claire, Christopher and Yu! We look forward to working with you and being a part of your career development.
