We are pleased to continue our intern spotlight series! Over a few weeks, we are introducing each our summer interns to learn more about their background and interests.
This week we introduce to you Parimal Mehta, Alyssa Ingerson and Ryan Halloran.
Parimal Mehta
Parimal has joined our IT department. During this internship, he wants to understand how computer science is used in the insurance industry. He also looks forward to gaining professional experience in full stack development and data science. Parimal is from Ahmedabad, India, and is currently studying in the University of Pennsylvania. He has previously worked in the healthcare insurance sector and chose to join Intact to learn about specialty insurance. If he got a chance to go anywhere in the world, Parimal would like to tour Europe. He is currently watching Komi Can’t Communicate on Netflix.
Alyssa Ingerson
Alyssa is a co-op intern who is interested in receiving hands-on experience in the corporate world, especially in the IT field. She wants to apply her knowledge about database management and programming to real-life situations. Alyssa is attending Virginia Military Institute, and was born and raised in Salem, Virginia. “What attracted me most to Intact Insurance is its core values because they are the same values that I personally hold, and are similar to my school values,” she says. “I also saw great reviews about Intact online on the work environment and focus on employee development”, she adds. The last TV show she watched was Netflix original, Cobra Kai – which became one of her favorite shows.
Ryan Halloran
Ryan, a student at the University of Wisconsin, has joined our corporate underwriting department to understand the process behind underwriting services. He is interested in learning about the specifics that come with evaluating risk with potential clients. Ryan is from Mequon, WI. “I knew I wanted to intern at an insurance company this summer. After searching different opportunities, I found Intact. I read its core values on the website, and I felt they resonated with me,” he says. Ryan wishes to visit Ireland one day. He loves to golf and there are many golf courses that people have recommended him to visit. His family is also from Ireland so he would like to experience the country’s culture. He is currently re-watching TV Show Curb Your Enthusiasm.
