The owner of a consumer electronics company locks the doors and arms the burglar alarm system at the end of a workday. Later that night, she receives a call from the police that thieves had driven a truck straight through the loading dock door and stolen video gaming system products.
Another similar example is one of the nation’s largest burglaries of prescription products in 2010 where burglars cut a hole in the roof of the warehouse, lowered themselves down and disabled the alarm system.
Burglaries like these result in loss of valuable inventory, damage to buildings and can prolong disruption to business operations. Therefore, all businesses should have a site-specific, written security program. A written program consists of the security policies, procedures and controls a business should follow to manage its security risks.
To offer deeper insights on this topic, we are pleased to announce the publication of our latest whitepaper titled “Who is Knocking at your Door? – Burglary and Theft Controls for your Business” authored by Information Technology Risk Control Specialist Robert Morris.
The focus of the paper is on the physical security controls a business can implement to help protect its assets and sustain daily operations.
