Intern Spotlight Series: Introducing interns Ella Scimeca and Benjamin Shaar.
As we wrap up our Intern Spotlight Series, we are introducing our final featured interns Ella Scimeca and Benjamin Shaar. Throughout this we’ve shared the incredible journeys and aspirations of our talented interns, and today is no exception. Discover their goals and aspirations as they contribute to our company.
Ella Scimeca
Ella is a student at Arizona State University and an Underwriting Intern with IB&M in Morristown, New Jersey this summer. Originally from Saddle Brook, New Jersey, she’s excited to gain “hands-on experience in underwriting and learn more about the Surety side of insurance,” an area she’s eager to explore further. She’s also looking forward to “growing analytical and decision-making skills in a real-world setting” she shared.
Ella was drawn to Intact for its strong reputation and values. “I really appreciate Intact’s commitment to social responsibility, including its support for nonprofits, scholarships, and programs that empower women in business,” she shared. Her leadership experience with the Girl Scouts and Kappa Delta has helped her build skills she’s ready to apply and expand.
Outside of work, Ella’s been watching The White Lotus and recently read Twilight. If she could travel anywhere, she’d head to Northern Italy to relax in a cozy villa in the Alps and enjoy the views, food, and culture.
Benjamin Shaar
Benjamin is interning with Dewar, one of our MGA partners, in Quincy, Massachusetts, and is a student at Northeastern University. Born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, he’s excited to deepen his understanding of data and business systems analysis. “I look forward to honing my technical and analytical skills, collaborating with talented professionals, and contributing to impactful initiatives that drive Intact’s success,” he shared.
He was drawn to Intact for its innovative approach and data-driven mindset. “The opportunity to work with a dynamic team and engage in meaningful projects made Intact the ideal place to launch my career,” he shared.
Outside of work, he recently rewatched The Big Short, one of his favorite films for its sharp take on the financial world. If he could travel anywhere, he’d visit Kyoto, Japan.
