As we wrap up our Intern Spotlight Series, we are introducing our final featured interns Alexandra Peterson, Vedant Yogishwar and Cecilia Chu. Throughout this we’ve shared the incredible journeys and aspirations of our talented interns, and today is no exception. Discover their goals and aspirations as they contribute to our company.
Alexandra Peterson
Alexandra has been working with our Claims Counsel this summer in our Anaheim office. This fall she enters her senior yearnat Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law. Originally from Ventura, California, Alexandra is “mostly excited to get in-house experience and see what it is like working for a cross-vertical business” she says.
During her interview process, Alexandra felt a strong sense of comfort and excitement and she was eager to meet the rest of the team. Alexandra was drawn to Intact because “it seems like a place that encourages mentorship and growth”. Alexandra values the opportunity to work alongside Richard Bishop and the other members of our claims counsel.
Outside of work, if Alexandra could visit anywhere in the world, she’d pick Turkey. She is intrigued by Turkey being the “center” of the earth and tells us she would like to experience “the intersection of Middle Eastern, European and Asian cultures.” She is a big fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm and is re-watching it as it “never gets old” she says.
Vedant Yogishwar
Vedant will be a senior this fall at UCLA and is working with our Inland Marine department in our Anaheim office this summer. Vedant grew up in Dubai but is Indian by origin. This summer Vedant is excited to spend time with his coworkers and the other interns and hopes to “develop genuine friendships with people who are navigating an industry that I am also attempting to explore” he says. Through this internship Vedant is looking forward to its “opportunity to be a fantastic gateway to understand the intricacies of the insurance industry through the perspective of underwriting and risk management” he says.
During a career fair at UCLA, he spoke to members of our team and “was pleasantly surprised with the depth of our conversation about the Inland Marine industry” he says. “After a seamless recruitment cycle, I decided that this was a team I would love to be a part of”.
If Vedant could go anywhere in the world, he would love to visit CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) and hopes to see the Large Hadron Collider. “It would also be a good excuse to check out the Swiss Alps” he says. Vedant recently rewatched the crime thriller The Mentalist and says that he could never get bored of watching the series.
Cecilia Chu
Cecilia attends the University of California Davis and lives in nearby San Francisco. This summer she will be working with our Specialty Technology team in our San Francisco office. Cecilia is looking forward to gaining valuable professional experiences and “gaining knowledge about underwriting and the insurance industry as a whole” she says.
Cecilia was attracted to Intact because “it seemed like the perfect place to get a running start in building practical skills and experiences” she says. Throughout her interview process she tells us that everyone she interacted with was “very forthcoming and understanding”. These interactions stood out to her.
Aside from work, If Cecilia could go anywhere in the world, she would love to visit Japan or South Korea and try all the amazing food. The last television show she watched was Pyramid Game, a Korean drama series.
