International Day of Persons with Disabilities

by | Dec 3, 2021 | Blogs, Corporate, Diversity and Inclusion

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), a global-event commemorated annually on December 3. First established by the United Nations in 1992, its purpose is to build awareness and understanding of persons with disabilities across social, economic, and cultural perspectives. Each year IDPD addresses a particular focus, with 2021’s theme targeting “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.”

Some facts

  • 26% of Americans live with some type of disability.
