We are pleased to wrap up our intern spotlight series! In the last couple weeks, we introduced each our summer interns to learn more about their background and interests.

This week we are excited to introduce Navil Ahmed, Samuel Levy, Sydney Spears and Valin Ingram.

Navil Ahmed

Navil has joined our IT department. He is from New York City and is currently attending LaGuardia Community College of CUNY. This summer, Navil is excited to learn from industry experts in DevOps and network with his team members. He also looks forward to working with other fellow interns and make lifelong connections! Said Navil, “The culture of Intact Specialty Insurance looks like a great fit for me. The company is passionate about being experts in the industry and is very community driven. To be part of it is like a dream come true.” If he had a chance to go anywhere in the world, Navil would choose to go to Spain. “The culture and the food are great, and the beaches are spectacular. Also, they have siesta time in the middle of the day which is an amazing concept,” he says. The last T.V. show he watched was Brooklyn 99, and the last book he read was the The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. If he was in a deserted island with food and water and two items of his choice, he would choose to bring a hand cranked generator or a solar generator and a flashlight!

Samuel Levy

Samuel is interning at our IT department. He was excited to join Intact Specialty Insurance to gain invaluable experience and build professional relationships along the way. He is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is studying at Oregon State University. Sam found out about Intact Insurance at a Montreal Canadiens game. Intact is a partner with the organization and Sam saw the company logo on the ice! Given a chance to go anywhere in the world, he would choose to go to the next city that rock band Phish is performing in. The last book he read was The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. If he was in a deserted island with food and water and two items of his choice, he would choose to bring “a device to listen to music because life is always better with music, and a soccer ball so I can claim to be the best at something on a deserted island!”, says Sam.

Sydney Spears

Sydney is interning at our Finance department and is studying at Creighton University. With this internship she hopes to begin applying concepts that she learnt in the classroom, while developing her communication and analytical skills. She also wants to build strong relationships with her fellow interns and colleagues. Sydney was attracted to Intact Specialty Insurance’s people. “Every individual that I came in contact with in the interview process was so welcoming and easy to talk to, and was clearly passionate about the company and the impact their role was making. I was also drawn to Intact because of my internship’s unique combination of both Accounting and Finance – my two fields of study,” she says. Sydney is from Eden Prairie, Minnesota and the most unique thing about her is that she is a triplet!

Valin Ingram

Valin has joined our IT department. During his internship he hopes to gain exposure to the tools that Business Analysts use in their everyday life. Said Valin, “I believe this internship will help make me more marketable, gain experience and assist with leveraging me for a career change. I look forward to gaining specialized skills”. Valin is from Jamaica and is attending Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Connecticut. He learned about the internship through his professor and felt that it would be a good opportunity to get real-life experience as a Business Analyst. Valin describes himself as hard working, committed and dedicated. If he had a chance to go anywhere in the world, he would go to Europe and visit some of the countries to learn about the culture.

Best of luck Navil, Sam, Sydney and Valin! We look forward to working with you and being a part of your career development.
